Minimum requirements:
- A well thought through and distinctive, innovative and scalable investment strategy;
- An adequately detailed description of the actual investment process;
- Be prepared to describe all details and aspects of the investment method (no black boxes or proprietary processes!);
- Experience of the key men team directly relevant for the proposed investment technique. We are especially demanding in investment areas where there are many investment managers applying for funding such as distressed debt and/or where personal contacts/skills constitute a significant part of the investment technique.
- Be prepared to make substantial personal economic commitment to the fund and management company;
- Be prepared to make a minimum of three-year commitment;
- All or significant parts (key men) of the IM must locate in Holland;
Likely important considerations in the selection process:
- Proven absolute return discipline;
- Well thought out strategies that can be ahead of the current market but that will flourish on the back of a trend that has not yet fully developed;
- Investment strategies that use novel approaches. We are currently receptive to ideas based on for example:
- behavioural sciences
- L/T changes in the provision of global liquidity
- cash flow driven investments rather than driven only by valuation changes
Unlikely to be considered for selection process:
- Strategies that extensively rely on intellectual processes outside the manager’s own organization;
- Unfinished concepts where the manager has not thought through the proposed investment process or expects investors to give direction about important aspects;
- Indirect investment strategies such as fund of funds;
- Long only managers.
