IMQubator is created for top talented investment professionals who not only excel in a certain investment field and have clear conviction and vision, but who also possess the drive to convert that conviction and vision into a new fund and management company.
Ideal candidates have the ambition to be an entrepreneur and to set up a new investment company with the conviction that they have a distinctive proposition that is best developed in a new setting. Experience shows that people with crucial innovative capability have considerably more chance of succeeding in the long-term. As entrepreneurs, candidates must be willing to put their own capital at risk.
A splendid initiative, almost un-Dutch. For once no fat policy memos, but ‘money talks’. Excellent timing too: the supply of new talent is growing rapidly and the time is ripe for new initiatives.

The Criteria
To be eligible for investment capital, the candidate must first go through a selection procedure, which consists of several stages.
In order to qualify for an introductory meeting with IMQ Investment Management (the manager of IMQubator) the candidate team needs to submit a request in English, meeting the following criteria:
- a distinctive and focused investment proposition,
- a clear connection of new activity with (institutional investor) experience in previous activity,
- entrepreneurship by having a “skin in the game”
(providing own capital to the new activity) - preparedness to establish (the centre of gravity of) the new activity in the Netherlands.

This is not to imply that a candidate needs to be a master of all trades. A good trader or investment manager with an excellent track record is not automatically a good business manager or marketer with a well-thought-out business plan. In such cases IMQubator can help to develop a solid plan, set up the right organization and select a suitable implementation method.
Starting entrepreneurs who lack experience with these aspects can develop them in their first few years with the help of IMQ Investment Management. The advantage of this approach is that it enables the manager to focus more of it’s time on his trading whilst gradually learning the remaining required skills.
The selected managers will gain access to a large network of potential investors, thus enabling the new investment fund to grow further.
