Investment Manager Overview

CIAM is a regulated Investment Manager specialized in “pure” Merger Arbitrage. In September 2010, the company launched its fund CIAM Merger Arbitrage, with the goal of investing in listed equities, involved in officially announced M&A transactions. The target companies must be over $500m of market capitalization and be located in Europe and North America.

CIAM Merger Arbitrage is an absolute return strategy, targeting returns of between 10 and 15%, and applying a gross leverage of maximum 1,5 x. CIAM’s objective is to have permanently between 10 and 15 positions in the portfolio. The Fund offers monthly liquidity with a 5 day notice.

The company is composed of 3 partners and 2 employees. Each of the 3 partners heads a strategic part of the business, Fund Management, Business Development, and Operations and Risk Management, and brings a unique and complementary experience to the company.

Catherine Berjal, CIO
Co-Founder, 13 year experience in managing Merger Arbitrage Portfolios both at BNP Paribas and CDC Marchés, and 4 year experience in Basket Trading at CDC Marchés.

Anne-Sophie d’Andlau, Head of Business Development
Co-Founder, 9 year experience in the Hedge Fund industry, mainly as a Merger Arbitrage portfolio manager at Systeia Capital Management, a French Hedge Fund, and 6 year experience in Corporate Finance at PwC.

Frédérique Barnier-Bouchet, COO
Co-Founder, 30 year experience in the banking industry, at Paribas, BNP Paribas (in charge of the setting-up of the Prime Brokerage), and Credit Agricole, and 2 year experience as a COO in a London based Hedge Fund.
